Google+ Cave Food Kitchen: Whole30: Day 13

Whole30: Day 13

It is the weekend again, this week went actually very fast! Very happy with Whole30 so far, no cravings, cheats or anything. Feeling very positive and happy with the improvements on the crossfit front.

The first meal of the day was an omelet made with eggs, kale,
mushrooms & ham. Spiced up with some black pepper &
chili flakes.
Or favorite side was again the coconut milk,
apricot, cinnamon squares, coconut flakes & berries.

Some other noticeable changes I've experienced is that fact that food is not as much on my mind anymore. My meals keep me full for hours and it seems that not only my body is satisfied but my brain too. I'm really curious to find out if others are having the same experience.

Sweet cravings no long exist (although I never had that many of them) and sweet tastes REALLY sweet when I do have some (like fruits or sweeter vegetables)

Another interesting development is my "re-discovery" of rooibos tea. It's a very popular tea here and for years I've been convinced that I didn't like it (I probably didn't, it can happen that you experience changes in tastes over the years) Earlier this week I decided to give it another try and I've been on the rooibos extravaganza ever since.

In the afternoon I still wasn't hungry, but we sliced up some apple and kiwi and had it with a bit of almond butter.

At the farmers market, my SO picked up some kale, and that was perfect for making an old favorite, kale chips.

Spread the leaves on a baking tray or cookie sheet (I just used aluminum foil)
Spray with coconut oil, sprinkle some salt and chili powder, and bake in the oven on about 140-160C for 10-15 mins.
Turn the leaves around halfway.
They turn out really crispy and super tasty!

For the next meal we might get accused of creating a SWYPO meal, but in all honesty, it wasn't intended this way.
I made 2 really thin omelets, added some salt, garlic powder and chili powder, then topped it with tomato paste, broccoli, mushrooms, zucchini, jalapenos and meat slices.

Baked in the oven for about 15 mins on 120C and out came a delicious "omelet bake"

We watched the documentary "Food Inc." also a must-see for those who want to know where their food comes from and how the industry really works. Warning for a few graphic images though!
